===========================================

Kaf is the eleventh letter of the hebrew alphabet.
Pronounciation: K or guttural KH
Examples: keter, crown; tokhen, content
In gematria, kaf represents the number 20.
The letter kaf represents crown and realization.

Kaf is thought to have been derived from a pictogram of a hand (in both arabic and hebrew, kaf means palm/grip).

There are three crowns: keter Torah, the crown of Torah; keter kehoona, the crown of priesthood, and keter Malhut, the Royal crown; but a fourth crown, keter shem tov, the crown of good name, is superior to all three of them. (source: Avot 4:17)

The numerical value of keter, crown, is 620 and it represents the totality of the mitzvoth: 613 ordered by the Torah and seven rabbinical mitzvot.

As a prefix, kaf is a preposition: it can mean "like" or "as", as in literary arabic.

In colloquial hebrew, kaf and shin together have the meaning of "when".

Kaf means literally the cupped palm of the hand, ready to receive.
All containers - a bowl, a cup, a jar are based on that basic curves shape.
Kaf represents the idea of a container, a form.
A house is a form that contains the goings on the people inside it;
a body is a form which contains the life and energy of the person.
The forms of the physical world are where the spiritual essence of life is able to manifest.

The kaf also teaches us to shape ourselves - to bend the ego and shape our character.

The kaf is what gives form to the matter.
It contains all the possibilities of containing, building and forming all existence.
It is the letter of formation, bending the straight line into a curved shape.
